Edward N. Hershon, J.D.
Suffering from morbid
obesity for more than fifteen years as well
as high blood pressure and diabetes Mr.
Hershon successfully underwent the Roen-Y
Gastric Bypass Procedure in January 2004.
In eight months since Mr. Hershon
had the gastric bypass, he has lost in excess
of 125 pounds, cured his diabetes and his
blood pressure is now normal. Mr.
Hershon looks forward to his continuing
weight loss and his more active and healthier
lifestyle.
Edward N. Hershon is a graduate
of the University of Baltimore, School of
Law and was admitted to the Maryland Bar
June 1993. Mr. Hershon is admitted
to practice law in all courts in the State
of Maryland and is admitted to practice
in the United States District Court for
the District of Maryland, the United States
Court of Federal Claims, and the United
States Court of Appeals for the Federal
and Fourth Circuits.
Mr. Hershon
is an active member of the American Bar
Association and the Maryland State Bar Association.
Mr. Hershon received his Bachelor's
of General Studies from the University of
Maryland, College Park in 1983. Since
being admitted to the Bar, Mr. Hershon has
concentrated his legal career in contract
and surety law issues. Before Mr.
Hershon founded the Obesity Law Center with
Gerald Allen, he was an associate with the
law firm of Huddles & Jones, P.C., specializing
in complex construction/contract litigation.
Prior to joining Huddles &
Jones, P.C., Mr. Hershon's legal experience
included five years as legal counsel to
the Department of Defense representing several
Defense agencies in contract disputes and
claims. Mr. Hershon also served as
Surety Claims Counsel to Universal Bonding
Insurance Company and was Deputy Director
of Contracts for Daniel, Mann, Johnson &
Mendenhall in its Arlington, Virginia, office.

Gerald L. Allen, J.D.
In February 2004, Mr. Allen underwent
the Roen-Y Gastric Bypass Procedure. The
process of getting approval from his insurance
company took approximately 1 year and required
two different levels of appeals. Mr.
Allen was able to get an opinion from the
Maryland Attorney Generals Office stating
the basis for which an insurance company
must approve gastric bypass surgery. (Click

Six months after the surgery, Mr. Allen
has lost 60 pounds and has improved his
general health. He looks forward to continued
weight loss and an increasingly healthy
lifestyle.
Gerald L. Allen is an
attorney and the Smart Growth Policy Representative
for the National Association of REALTORS®,
was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 1999,
the District of Columbia Bar in 2002, is
a graduate of the University of Baltimore
School of Law and a Cum Laude graduate from
Towson State University.
Prior to joining
NAR, Mr. Allen was the Director of Legal
Services for Hometest, Inc., an environmental
testing company based in Waldorf, Maryland.
At Hometest, Mr. Allen performed the function
of General Counsel as well as conducting
nationwide seminars on environmental issues
such as mold, lead paint, and radon. Mr.
Allen has also acted as an Associate with
the law and governmental affairs firm of
Cooke & Associates, Limited, where he
handled environmental torts, personal injury
claims, and lobbied state and local governments
on behalf of several clients, including
Mid-Atlantic Cardiovascular Associates and
the Maryland Optometrists Association.
Previously
Mr. Allen acted as the Assistant Government
Affairs Director for the Maryland Association
of REALTORSŇ, as well as providing legislative
support staffing to government affairs firms
such as The Rassmussen Group and Maryland
Public Affairs Associates. Mr. Allen is
a member of the Maryland State Bar Association,
the District of Columbia Bar Association,
and the American Bar Association. He resides
in Glen Burnie, Maryland with his wife Erika.
